U.S. News and World Reports recently released their rankings of the top colleges and universities for 2022. Among public regional universities in the south, Middle Georgia State University was ranked 10th.

The ranking was in the “Top Public Schools- Regional Colleges South” category. In that same ranking, MGA was listed as eighth as “Best for Veterans.” In addition Middle Georgia State moved up six spots to 44 in the “Best Regional Colleges- South” category which includes public and private institutions.

Another category where MGA improved was a 20-spot improvement to 33rd among the South’s regional institutions showing the most success in advancing the social mobility of students. That ranking refers to how well institutions do in advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of students awarded Pell Grants, which are based on family income.

University President Dr. Christopher Blake said in a release the rankings reflect their commitment to students. "Middle Georgia State’s institutional vision is to transform individuals and their communities through extraordinary higher learning. These rankings reflect our commitment to serve students from all different backgrounds and to constantly work to come up with even more innovative ways to serve those students.”

MGA first made the U.S. News and World Reports “Top Public Schools Regional Colleges South” rankings three years ago. To see the entire rankings, go to https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges
