It was senior night as BCHS welcomed the Gryphons from A.C.E. for the first meeting between the two schools. Unfortunately, it ended like so many other games had this season, with a close loss.

Zyon Love.

Things got off to an exciting start when Landry Nobles recovered a Gryphon fumble on the BC 32. The Royals capitalized on a Kam Everett to Jahiyan Blackshear 58-yard touchdown pass. With 6:08 left, BC led 7-0.

They added to the later in the first on a seven-yard Everett touchdown run. In the second, the BC defense stopped A.C.E on a fourth and six from their 10. But later on, a 22-yard field goal by Ford Childers was blocked. A.C.E. returned the ball 95 yards for a score and got back in the game.

Dequavis Benjamin

BC appeared to answer with a Dequavis Benjamin 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. However, the score was erased due to a block in the back. Though the Royals started at the 45, they couldn’t capitalize. They took a 14-7 lead into the dressing room.

A.C.E. tied the game in the third on a 66-yard touchdown pass. BC retook it with an Everett to Nykez Farrow four-yard touchdown pass with 3:15 left. The Gryphons again answered early in the fourth, tying the game on a 20-yard touchdown run.

Several Royals are in on the stop.

Bleckley was driving for a go-head score, getting to the A.C.E. 20. But the next play ended in an interception when the ball bounced off the receiver’s helmet. Neither team would score in regulation, sending the game to overtime.

Both teams got four untimed downs from the 15. BC began first and scored on a Josh Stanley, Jr. nine-yard touchdown run. The Gryphons though would answer on a one-yard run. A successful two-point conversion on the next play, and Bleckley lost their fifth in a row, their fifth this season by one score, 29-28.

Everett was 14 of 20 for 120 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 60 yards on 11 carries with one score. Stanley rushed for 80 yards on 10 carries with one score.

Farrow caught six passes for 84 yards and one score. Kaden Perkins caught six passes for 71 yards. Tyrek Mack caught five passes for 58 yards and also had nine solo tackles, a tackle for loss, a quarterback sack, and a forced fumble.

BCHS plays at Central October 31. Kickoff is 7 pm at Thompson Stadium.
