A good overall day on the mat despite not great results.

BCHS made the short trip to East Laurens Saturday afternoon for the Falcon Frenzy. A much healthier squad looked to build on momentum from last week’s performance at South Forsyth that saw them have their highest score of the season and stuck all their stunts.

The Royals were the fourth squad to compete. There was a contingent of supporters who stood in the premium seating area to cheer them on. The familiar chant of “Bleckley County” rang out. Soon, BC was called to the mat.

BC had a solid perfor4mance. One of the single base stunts came down early, otherwise all their stunts stuck. They had good energy and good jumps.

But when it came time for results, there was a surprise. Bleckley wasn’t in the top three. A pair of two-point deductions for knees down while tumbling was the culprit.

Saturday’s competitors included region foes Dodge County and East Laurens as well as potential state contenders Swainsboro and Vidalia. While coaches were overall pleased with the performance, the four points in deductions costing them a place showed they still have things to clean up in what’s a very tight 2A, Division 1.

The squad with coaches Heather Davis and Anna Brown.

Bleckley will host Battle at the Kingdom November 2. Doors open at 11:15 am with the competition starting at noon. The Royals will perform but only for scores.
