It was a very rare Tuesday night football game as BCHS made up their postponed contest with Jefferson County. Jefferson, who had multiple sporting events postponed or forfeited due to Hurricane Helne damage, was having to make up two football games this week.

Jahiyan Blackshear

Thanks to the newly implemented power rankings system for Class A, Division 1, BC had a chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win. Things got off toa good start thanks to a return by Jahiyan Blackshear to the Royal 46.

Kam Everett had a big night both passing and running.

BC capped the drive with a Kam Everett to Kaden Perkins 15-yard touchdown pass.. The Warriors returned the ensuing kickoff to the Bleckley 40 but were stopped on fourth down.

Rhett Floyd was among the Royals on the tackle.

The Royals took the next possession and drove to the Warrior 2 but were stopped on fourth down. But early in the second, Dequavis (DQ) Benjamin had a nine-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 14-0. After starting their next drive on the Warrior 48, BC would capitalize again.

Kaden Perkins makes a defender miss.

Zyon Love’s 11-yard touchdown run made it 21-0. With 3:19 left in the second, Nykez Farrow intercepted a pass at the BC 22. Blekley took a 21-0 lead into the dressing room,.

The law firm Adams, Jordan, and Herrington were the game sponsor. Presenting the game ball is Touchdown Club president Heath Rowland.

Kam Everett added to the lead in the third with a 41-yard rushing touchdown. But Jefferson County would answer. Starting at their own five, they drove 95 yards, capped by a four-yard rushing touchdown with 3:24 left. A successful conversion and it was 28-8.

Jeremiah Jackson is in on the stop.

JC appeared to be getting back in the game when a defended stripped the ball from Everett and went 77 yards for a score. Another conversion and it was 28-16. BC would answer though.

Zyon Love had a rushing and receiving touchdown.

With 33 seconds left in the third, Everett hit Love on a 52-yard screen pass for six as the lead was back to three scores, 35-16. On the ensuing possession, Jefferson went for it on fourth down from their own 46 and failed.

BC got the ball back on downs, but appeared to be stopped at the 28. However, a fake field goal (Brody Fleming to Ford Childers lined up as a wideout) kept the drive alive. With 8:31 left in the fourth, Deondrez Robertson scored from five yards out.

The point after missed but it was 41-16. Bleckley’s final score came via Fleming to Perkins touchdown pass as the Royals rolled 48-16. Everett was 10 of 17 for 143 yards and two touchdowns.

He also ran for 76 yards on six carries with one score. Benjamin ran for 45 yards on nine carries with one touchdown. Perkins caught seven passes for 84 yards.

Bleckley will find out its playoff destination after all the regular season games have been completed.
