Special recognition a big part of BOE meeting.

The Bleckley County Board of Education met in regular session Tuesday night. This meeting was held in the high school auditorium as several groups were recognized. Everyone recognized received a Dairy Queen gift card.

Teachers whose classes had the highest passing rate on the Georgia Milestones Tests in the Heart of Georgia RESA were recognized. Principals from each school announced the teachers. From BCHS, announced by Dr. Brad Knox- Steve Mote, Garrett Collins, Wes Young, and Emmie Kotara,

BCMS teachers whose classes had the highest Georgia Milestones passing rates in the Heart of Georgia RESA announced by principal Liz Dykes- Becky Wilson, Stephanie Dollar, Becky Kirkpatrick, Mallory Veal, Emily Hauesler, Mandy Little, Rebekah Bowen, Jessica Prater, Shannon Churchwell, and Stephanie Smith.

Bleckley Elementary teachers whose classes had the highest Georgia Milestones passing rates in the Heart of Georgia RESA announced by Angie Boston- Christie Beck, Kelly Wilson, Andrea Warren, Chelsea Evans, Ashley Baublitz, Joy Sumner, Kristen Rodgers, Kaitlin Price, Brooke Lanfear, Suzanne McWhorter, Christy Jones, Charity Roland, and Savannah Churchwell.

State champion cross country teams were then recognized by head coach Shelly Cranford. BCMS Boys cross country state champions team- Asa Mathis, Bane Mullis, Beau Foskey, Blake Allen, Brayden Floyd, Brody Gibbs, Cameron Cusick, Cole Arnold, Elias O’Neal, Elliot Lynch, Ezra Sorenson, Gage Floyd, Harrison McDaniel, Hayden Baker, Hunter Grimsley, Jake Johnson, James Phelps, Jasper Faulk, Karrington Roberts, Kobe Roberts, Landon Godwin, Levi Arnold, Liam Alley, Matthew Adams, and Nathan Johnson.

Both the BCHS girls and boys cross country teams won state. The girls team- Anna Lynch, Ava Herrington, Claira Lynch, Eliza Sorenson, Ella Gibbs, Ellen Arnold, Kayslen Armstrong, Layna Davis, Lily Farrell, Lily Proffitt, Maddie Graham, Natalie Kitchens, Reese Bryant, Sarah Becker, and Scout Totty.

BCHS boys cross country team members- Anthony Rutledge, Benji Fordham, Brock Spell, Caleb Darsey, Christopher Barlow, Dylan Strickland, Greyson Arnold, Ethan Murray, Harrison Rogers, Jack Harrell, Jay Faulk, John Woodard, Josh Knox, Kaleb Leverett, Logan Camp, Ryder Garrett, Seth Arnold, Tyce Garrett, Walt Garvin, and Zach Gilbert.

That occupied much of the meeting as other items had already been discussed during a work session held Monday including personnel items. The only public interest item related to personnel was William Barham was added back to the Athletic Staffing Plan as an assistant baseball coach.

The meeting dismissed at 6:42 pm.
