There was lots new with Lady Barons softball as the team opened their season Wednesday afternoon against Jeff Davis. A new coaching staff led by Chance Pittman. BC saw seven players move on to high school from eighth grade.

Their opponent was the always formidable Jeff Davis Lady Jackets. Down 3-0 in the third inning,, Bleckley’s first hit of the game was an explosive one, a two-run homer by Jeriyah Evans over the right centerfield fence.

Evans RBI hit in the fifth tied the game at 3. But Jeff Davis got two runs in the sixth and an RBI groundout in the seventh. BC tried to rally in the home half, getting an RBI double from Makayla Hogan. The rally though would come up short as Bleckley lost 6-4. Only three of the six runs were earned as the team committed five errors.

Evans had two of the teams four hits, going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI. Hogan was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. Bleckley hosts Pulaski County Middle School August 12 at 4 pm.
