The tough opening week of region play continued for BCHS Thursday as they hosted defending region champion East Laurens. The Lady Falcons were going for their third straight win against the Lady Royals, having swept the season series last year.

Lyric Stephes

They got off to a good start, taking an early 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the third, Jana Tomlin’s two-run single got BC on the board. Aided by a throwing error in the bottom of the fourth, Bleckley scored four times.

Ashanti Flagg

But EL would score three in the fifth to tie the game. Still tied in the seventh, the Lady Falcons, aided by an error, scored two times. But in the bottom of the inning, Bleckley would respond.

Zoey Adams.

With two on and one out, Lyric Stephens laced a single to tie the game. With two outs and Stephens at third base, the EL pitcher tried a pickoff move. Stephens came home to score the winning run as BC walked it off, 9-8.

Stephens was 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI. Rayea Dominy was 2 for 3 and 1 RBI. Kadence Carmichael went 1 for 2. BC travels to Southwest April 19. Game time is 4:30 pm.
