BOE plans to leave millage rate unchanged.

The Bleckley County Board of Education met in regular session Tuesday night with all members present. It was a relatively short meeting with one big decision made.

The board decided to keep the current millage rate of 14.04 after a discussion A called meeting will be held to set the final rate in October. For more information, go to

There were a few items of note passed with the monthly consent items. One was a recommendation to update and approve Policy DJCB pertaining to salary deductions.

Another was an update to the board meeting calendar, specifically the October meeting was moved from October 14 to October 7 at 6 pm. Also in the consent items was a Resolution for Temporary Property Tax Relief for Eligible Standing Timber Located in a Disaster Area.

From the executive session- Bonnie Kitchens was approved as the 21st Century CCLC Site Coordinator. According to meeting minutes, the meeting dismissed at 7:20 pm.
