Last year, all but one of the Royals losses came via four points or less. BC got a measure of payback on a loss to Southwest last year by handily beating the Patriots September 4. Friday night presented another opportunity for payback as well as make it a happy Homecoming as Bleckley welcomed Washington County.

Malachi Ates is part of the group on this sack.

Touchdown passes from Brody Fleming to Octavius Tate on the first two possessions gave Bleckley a 14-0 lead. The defense would get their second stop of the game, fourth-and-5 from the BC 5, late in the first.

Kelvin Sneed

Fleming got his third touchdown pass of the game, a 37-yard strike to Kix Foskey, with 11:51 left in the second. Jireh Campbell intercepted a pass on Waco’s next possession and returned it for a 60-yard score. With 8:56 left in the half, it was 28-0.

The Golden Hawks finally got on the board via a 51-yard touchdown pass on their next drive. The conversion failed, it was 28-6 BC with 7:20 left in the half. BC got the points back on their next possession via a Fleming to Jahiyan Blackshear 51 yard touchdown strike. The PAT failed but it was 34-6.

Isaiah Simenton

BC’s final points of the half came via a Fleming to Kelvin Sneed 15-yard touchdown pass. The point after was good. Waco though would again use the big strike to score, a 78-yard touchdown pass with 2:49 left. The conversion again failed. It was 41-12 Royals at halftime.

Lindsey Dykes State Farm was Friday's game sponsor. Joe Ward of the Touchdown Club presented the game helmet to team members including Gabbi Ragan.

The Royals last score of the game came on a 21-yard Johan Kelly field goal with 3:21 left. The Golden Hawks continued to hang around, converting a fourth-and-12 from the BC 42 late in the quarter.

Brody Fleming

They’d cash in via a 15-yard TD pass with 9:27 left in the fourth. They got the conversion making the score 44-20. The last score of the game came with under a minute left, a Golden Hawk 14-yard touchdown pass. The conversion failed and the onside kick was recovered by BC as they won 44-26.

Fleming went 17 of 27 for 327 yards and five touchdowns. Tate caught six passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Though the defense only gave up 39 rushing yards, they gave up 432 passing yards.

Bleckley travels to Jefferson County September 26. Kickoff is 7:30 pm
