BCHS made their season debut Saturday afternoon at the Middle Georgia Cheer Classic at Houston County High School. The squad had limited time to practice the full routine due to various injuries.
The Royals were the first squad to perform in a Class A Division with nine teams. A large group of family and some friends made the short trip over to cheer BC on. The chant of “Let’s Go Royals” could be heard as the squad prepared to take the mat.
Bleckley entered to a loud cheer. For a first performance, there was plenty of good. Good motions, good jumps, and improved tumbling from last year. There was some bad. Specifically, stunts coming down early and issues with the pyramid.
Supporters cheered the squad again as they left the mat. When it came time for results, it was not good news. Bleckley’s name wasn’t called. A two-point deduction denied them third place.
Head coach Heather Davis was overall pleased with the effort for a first competition and looked forward to improving for next week. Bleckley will be at the West Laurens Raider Rumble September 27.
