A better day on the mat for BCHS.

BCHS was scheduled to go to the Blueberry Cheer Classic by hosted by Bacon County last year but the after effects of Hurricane Helene cancelled it. Saturday, the competition was on as planned, so the Royals made the trip south to Alma.

Despite the long trip, there was a good group of support on hand., Started by another squad sitting across the gym, the familiar chant of “Let’s go Bleckley” broke out.

Those supporting the purple and gold cheered loudly as BC was called to the mat. Today, they had lots to cheer about. The squad had a better routine. They were shaper, they were cleaner compared to the first two performances.

The squad received another ovation when they re-entered the gym afterward. For the first time this season, BC would have their name called when awards were presented, bringing home third place. Another sign of improvement was the only deduction being for knees down during running tumbling.

The squad with coaches Emily Raley and Heather Davis.

Head coach Heather Davis was pleased with the improvements and looked forward to continuing to get better each week. BC travels to North Forsyth October 11.
