March 22, was a surprising morning for one Bleckley County High School Student. Tucker Felkins, a Junior at BCHS, was presented with a commendation from Governor Nathan Deal and was named an Outstanding Georgia Citizen by Secretary of State Brian P. Kemp.
In attendance for the presentations were Bleckley County Schools Superintendent Mr. Steve Smith, BCHS Principal Dr. Trey Belflower, FFA Advisors Mr. Doyle Floyd and Mr. Walt Parks, Tucker’s mother, Dr. Cindy Felkins and a group of special friends. State Representative Bubber Epps, who nominated Tucker for both, delivered the awards from the state capitol.
The commendation recognizes Tucker’s active pursuits in agriculture through our local FFA chapter under advisors Mr. Floyd and Mr. Parks. He won the FFA Chapter Ambassador competition, is a member of the first place Area 3 and second place State Wildlife Management Teams, served as FFA Camp Captain last summer as well as many other accomplishments.
Currently, Tucker serves as the local FFA chapter Vice-President and the Area 3 FFA Vice-President. The commendation further states that he has “established himself as a leader in his school, local FFA chapter, and his community.” Ending the commendation, Governor Nathan Deal wishes Tucker the best in his future endeavors.
Secretary of State Brian P. Kemp proclaims Tucker Felkins as an Outstanding Georgia Citizen and a Goodwill Ambassador from Georgia. He concluded the proclamation by thanking Tucker for his service to our state.
We would like to offer our heartfelt congratulations to Tucker on all of his accomplishments and on receiving these special recognitions. Tucker is the son of Tim and Cindy Felkins of Cochran.
