(Photos contributed.) A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday morning for a new satellite building at the Cochran Airport that will be used by Middle Georgia State University School of Aviation. The $70,000 project was a joint effort between the City of Cochran, Bleckley County, and the Cochran Airport Authority. Planning for the new building began in February of this year. Numerous community leaders attended including Mayor Billy Yeomans, Commissioner Mike Davis, MGA President Dr. Christopher Blake, State Representative Danny Mathis, Dean of Aviation Adaon Clark, and Chamber of Commerce president Melissa Barker. In a release, MGA called today a “win/win for all involved” and said lasting future implications for MGA, the city, the county, and the airport were “huge.”
