High School Sports
Tough end to season for Royals.

BCHS led 24-21 in the fourth Friday night at Fitzgerald but gave up the go-ahead score with under three minutes left. Their final drive was stopped on fourth and one as the Royals season ended 28-24. Zyon Love ran for 108 yards on 10 carries. Dequavis Benjamin ran for 61 yards on seven carries with two scores. On defense, Josh Stanley had seven tackles, seven solo. Landry Nobles had 4.5 tackles, 3 solo. Bleckley finishes with a record of 5-7, six of those losses were by four points or less.

The Davis Family Turkey Trot will be held November 28 at 246 Floyd NeSmith Road. Registration is at 8:30 am with the event starting at 8:45. It's free and open to all ages. Walk, run, or ride your bike. There will be refreshments and prizes.

A different kind of football at Royal Stadium.

Though the Royals have been on the road for the playoffs, there was football under the lights Thursday at Royal stadium as a Powder Puff tournament was held between all four grades. The seniors edged the freshmen to make it to the championship game. The juniors then edged the sophomores to clinch a championship game berth. In the end, the juniors claimed victory. Basketball teams lose at J.R. Trippe.

BCMS basketball was swept in games played at J.R. Trippe Thursday afternoon. The girls lost 47-16, the boys fell 29-20. Teams return to action December 3 at West Laurens.

The Board of Education was recently named an Exemplary Board by the Georgia School Board Association. Pictured L-R are Superintendent Dr. Trey Belflower, Shanna Evans, Dianne Lester, Amy Williams, David Rojas, and Brandon Keel.
Recognizing teacher and student achievement was a main focus of the latest Board of Education meeting Tuesday night.
