Breast cancer survivor, BCPS parapro, given surprise honor by faculty and students.



(Photos courtesy Bleckley County Primary School Facebook page.) October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Pamela Williams, a Kindergarten parapro at Bleckley Primary, is a breast cancer survivor. This week, teachers and students decided to honor her with things such as handmade cards and many wearing pink. It was a surprise for Williams.

BCMS took an 8-6 lead into halftime of Wednesday’s regular season finale versus Dublin thanks to a second quarter Brayden Hill to Jamir Thompson second quarter touchdown pass. However, the Barons couldn’t capitalize on a fumble recovered deep in Irish territory late in the quarter. The Irish scored 22 unanswered second half points to win 28 to 8. As a result, Bleckley falls to third in the standings and will play at the Shamrock Bowl October 23 in the MGMSAA playoffs. Kickoff will be 5 pm.

The Bleckley County Board of Education set the FY25 millage rate at 14.04. It's a rollback rate from this year's 14.1. During a brief executive session, Alex Baughman was named assistant girls and boys middle school soccer coach.
