Board of Education renews SRO agreement with Sheriff's Office.

The Bleckley County Board of Education met in regular session August 20. The only item voted on was the renewal of the yearly agreement with the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office to provide SRO’s (School Resource Officers.) Meeting minutes state the total cost, $149,952.41, is the same as last year’s. It involves providing an officer for all four campuses (BCPS, BCES, BCMS, and BCHS.) The BCPS officer will also serve as SRO for the Bleckley Christian Learning Center. Click the link to read the agreement. There were two special recognitions at the meeting. May Ellen Williams was recognized for being named LPN of the Year by the Georgia Nurses Association this past summer. Struggles continue for Lady Royals.

Westfield score six runs in the bottom of the second as they sent BCHS to their fourth loss in five games, 9-1 Monday afternoon. The Lady Barons had just four hits. Addison Hill was 2 for 2. Alaysia Colley went 1 for 2. Bleckley hosts Jefferson County tomorrow at 5:30 pm.

Another tough game for Lady Barons.

It was another tough game for BCMS as they lost 11-0 at J.R. Trippe Monday afternoon. Starting pitcher Rayea Dominy missed her second straight game due to a leg injury. The Lady Barons had just one hit and committed five errors. BC and Lady Chiefs meet in Cochran August 29 at 4:30 pm.

A morning of learning cheers.

Some of the girls also tumbled.



The BCMS Competition Cheerleaders held their Mini Cheer Camp Saturday morning at the middle school gym. Girls in grades 1 through 5 learned things like cheers, stunting, and jumps from cheerleaders and coaches. An exhibition was held for parents and friends so the campers could show what they learned. Proceeds from the camp will go toward expenses for this upcoming season. BC will open their competition season September 7 in Morgan County.
