BCHS named U.S. National Blue Ribbon School.

Bleckley County High School has been named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School by U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. BCHS is one of two schools in the state to receive the honor. A video announcement will be posted at 11 am tomorrow on the National Blue Ribbon Schools website. Superintendent Dr. Steve Smith said in an email announcing the news that credit goes to district employees. “Every employee of our school district shares in this honor. Every person in this school system has poured himself or herself into our students, and our students' high achievement led to this award. I am so proud of each of you, and we are so thankful for a community that supports education. This recognition lets the entire country know what we already know -- the Bleckley County School District is the best school district in the state, and it is because of our tremendous staff, dedicated students, supportive families and community, and leaders at all levels who put students first.” [ Visit Website ]

In news not learned until Monday evening, the monthly Cochran Rec. Department board meeting was cancelled again. The next meeting is scheduled for October 4 at 6 pm.
