BCHS finishes runner up at region literary competition.

Region 3-AA Literary competition was held Saturday at Washington County High School. BCHS finished runner up. Results are as follows. First place(advancing to state) Chloe Mullis, Girls Solo. Sierra Arnold, Rhetorical Essay. Second place: Girls Trio, Sierra Arnold, Allie Hataway, Maddy Land. Boys Solo, Demetreon Wells. Boys Quartet, Demetreon Wells, Ethan Hulsey, Tanner Filion, Josh Gilbert. Duo Dramatic Interpretation, Kate Maddox, Lauren Coley. Personal Essay, Juliet Cairney. Argumentative Essay, Jamie Cairney. Third place: Humorous Interpretation- Josh Gilbert. Dramatic Interpretation- Kate Maddox. Fourth place: Dramatic Extemporaneous Speaking- Mai Le Long. State will be held April 24 at GMC in Milledgeville.

Royals roll at South Effingham. ***Updated***

Eli Mullis hit a grand slam and Brody Little also homered as BCHS won 14-0 at South Effingham Saturday afternoon. Mullis was 2 for 2 with a double and 4 RBI. Matthew Bland went 2 for 3. The Royals host Jones County April 20, first pitch is 5:45 pm.

Dykes Pharmacy named DDA Business of the Quarter.

(Photo credit Cochran Downtown Development Authority Facebook.) City of Cochran Downtown Development Authority presented their inaugural “Business of the Quarter” award Friday to Dykes Pharmacy. According to a Facebook post, the award goes to for-profit businesses “that exhibit community involvement, demonstrate economic growth, and excel in customer service and/or professional relationships.” Pictured are DDA Chair Carla Coley, Debra Yeomans, Jeff Regan, Rob Dykes, Ben Crawford, Ally Lauber. The award will be presented the month following each quarter, selected from community nominations.

High School Sports
Soccer teams fall at Lamar

Though trailing just 2-1 at halftime, the Lady Royals lost 5-1 at Lamar County Friday night. Christa Hall had the lone goal, Jordyn Krieg with the assist. The Royals were shut out 4-0. The Lady Royals will again be second seed for this year's state playoffs, opening round is scheduled for April 22.
