Middle School Sports
A full day of baseball at BCMS.

BCMS baseball hosted their annual Diamond Day Saturday. The scrimmage games served as fundraiser for the team as well as allowing players who might not get a chance during the week an opportunity to play. In "A" team action, the Barons tied Dodge County 2-2 and lost to Southeast Bulloch 4-2. Region play resumes at 4 pm Monday at Jeff Davis.

Full opening day at the rec. department.

While the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department got to hold games last year, seasons were reduced and no opening day ceremony was held due to COVID-19. Saturday, regular opening day ceremonies took place including a parade of teams, performance of the national anthem by Millie Hulsey and Olivia Brand, and recognition of the CBRD Volunteers of the Year (Tracy Rycroft, baseball. Danny Rycroft, softball.) Games began at 2 pm. You can find more information on all rec. department sports by visiting cbrdrecreation.com

Tennis teams win vs Taylor County.

BCMS took a pair of home tennis matches against Taylor County Saturday morning. Scores were 3-2 girls, 4-1 boys. Region play resumes Monday at West Laurens starting at 4 pm.

Another windy day for Biking Bleckley.

For the second straight year, the weather felt more like fall with wind as the Cochran Bleckley Chamber of
Commerce hosted the 18th annual Biking Bleckley. Organizers believed it affected the turnout, 50 riders participated. While some did note the wind made things more challenging, one praised the many roads which had no traffic. Once the riders returned to the chamber, pork chop plates purchased from the Cochran Fire Department were waiting for them.

Middle School Sports
Barons shut down Chiefs.

BCMS pitching totaled 17 strikeouts in a 6-3 win at J.R. Trippe Friday afternoon. Caden Dupree struck out 12 in five innings, no runs allowed. Clayton Beck struck out five in two innings of relief, no earned runs allowed. He was also 2 for 4. BCMS hosts Diamond Day tomorrow. "A" team games against Dodge County at 9:30 am and Southeast Bulloch at 4 pm. The B-Team will play Southeast Bulloch at 2 pm.
