Golf teams defeat Washington County.

BCHS Golf won matches played against Washington County Tuesday afternoon at Uchee Trail. The boys score was 172-180. Scores included: Ty Cranford 35, Paul Andrews 40, Chase Jones 45, and Weston Skipper 52. The girls won 100-123. Lucy Wiegert shot a 41, Anna Johnson 59. The Royals will participate in the Greg Wolff Tiger Invitational in Metter this Saturday. The Lady Royals will host the Lady Royal Invitational at Uchee Trail March 15.

Royals blast Dodge to open region play.

Over the years, Dodge and BCHS have had several classic baseball games. Pitchers duels, one-run contests such as one in Eastman a few years ago when Dodge scored the winning run on a play when there was question whether the catcher tagged him out before he scored. However, Tuesday night’s region opener against the Indians wasn’t one of those games.
The Royals left the bases loaded in the first inning. It was the only time they wouldn’t score. Already leading 7-0 in the seventh, Matthew Bland hit a two-run single in the third. Eli Mullis’ third hit in the fourth capped a six-run inning and 15-0 win.


Dodge pitching walked eight batters and hit five. They also committed five errors. Mullis went 3 for 3 with a double. Bland was 2 for 3. Ethan Hulsey went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI. Brody Little gave up three hits, striking out five. Bleckley travels to Toombs County March 11. JV play at 4 pm with varsity to follow.

Soccer teams split with Golden Hawks.

The Lady Royals stayed perfect in region with a 7-0 home win versus Washington County Tuesday night. Harlie Corner had a hat trick. Aniston Dowdy had a goal and assist. Jordyn Krieg, Christa Hall, and Jewel Allen also scored. Lydia Belflower had an assist.
The Royals and Golden Hawks were tied at 3 at the end of regulation and still tied following 20 minutes of extra time. In the first penalty kick session, the teams tied 2-2. Josh Gilbert and Michael Waugh had successful kicks for BC. But in the second group of five, BC was shut out 3-0, and lost 4-3. Teams will be back in action March 12 at home versus Lamar County. Girls play at 5:30 pm with boys to follow.
