Called BOE meeting March 2.

As part of a scheduled work session, there will be a called meeting of the Board of Education March 2 at 6 pm inside the high school auditorium. The purpose will be to hear from district leaders regarding FY22, participate in whole board training regarding strategic planning and budgeting, act on the GMP (Greatest Maximum Price) for stadium renovations, personnel matters, and any other business to come before the board.

Bleckley Fire Department members complete skills test.

It included both a written test and execution of firefighter techniques. Said BCFD Chief Matt Kelley in a statement “Those volunteers passed the Firefighter 1 written and skills test as set forth by the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council to receive their certification through the National Professional Qualifications. All in an effort to better serve our community. A great accomplishment for a volunteer firefighter.”

Bats come alive in win at Crawford

BCHS had 19 hits and scored at least one run in every inning, capped by a seven-run sixth, to easily win at Crawford County 17-2 Tuesday night. Conner Senters struck out six in four innings, also going 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI. Matt Huff went 3 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI. Willie Harris was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI. Matthew Bland went 3 for 4 with 1 RBI. Caleb Senters went 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI. Brody Little went 2 for 4 with 5 RBI. James Fordham went 2 for 3. Due to wet field conditions, the Royals will again travel to Hazlehurst tomorrow to face Jeff Davis at 6 pm.

Barons hold off Crisp County.



BCMS took a 10-1 lead against Crisp County but had to hold off a late comeback attempt to win 12-9. The Barons host Jeff Davis Thursday at 4 pm.

High School Sports
Soccer teams split with Crisp County.

The Lady Royals had a 2-0 halftime lead against Crisp County only to see the Lady Cougars tie the score. in the second half. Jalexia Taylor's goal broke the tie only to see Crisp answer again. Jordyn Krieg's third goal proved to be the game-winner in a 4-3 victory. Assists went to Aniston Dowdy, Harlie Corner, and Madison Purvis.
Charlie Williams' first half penalty kick tied the score at one vs the Cougars But Crisp got two second half goals to win 3-1. The Lady Royals host West Laurens Thursday at 7 pm.
