Air Force vet asks "What is a veteran, who is a veteran," at Veterans Day ceremony.





“What is a veteran? Who is a veteran?” Those were the questions asked by guest speaker, disabled veteran, Air Force First Sgt. Donnie Dixon asked and tried to answer at a Veterans Day program held Wednesday morning. Dixon was the guest speaker and discussed veterans, who they were (male and female), and the many wars they served in over time. There were also remarks by Commissioner Bob Brockman and Mayor Billy Yeomans.

High school graduation rates increase, Bleckley with highest rates in Middle Georgia.

High school graduation rates went up from 82 percent in 2019 to 83.8 percent in 2020. Locally, the Bleckley County School District and BCHS led the way with the highest rates in both the Heart of Georgia RESA service area as well as the Middle Georgia RESA service area.

Bleckley FFA news.

Bleckley FFA member Joni Lumley recently finished fourth in Animal Systems, Division 3, in the National Agriscience Fair. The competition was held virtually. According to a post on the Bleckley FFA Alumni Facebook page, the plan is to hold in-person competitions after the new year. Also, it was announced that the delivery date for the Christmas plant sale will be November 30. Those who purchased plants should plan to stop by the greenhouse located behind the high school gym from 3-6 pm that day to pick up their orders.
