BCES class receives grant.

(Courtesy BleckleyProgress.com contributor.) The Bleckley Elementary class of Riley Troili and Tisah Ates gave a “thumbs up” after receiving a $2,500 grant from Ocmulgee EMC that will go toward a gazebo for the BCES Sensory Garden. Their class started the JitterBug Joe Coffee Cart last year, selling coffee to teachers and school personnel each week. Support was so great, the group decided to give something back to the school. They decided on a sensory garden. Flowers, fruit, and vegetable plants have been growing in the garden, excitement has also been growing. This should be a place that all students in the school can take time to enjoy and read library books or have outdoor classes.

Community News : Saying Thank You
Fall Frenzy provided fun for Bleckley 4-H members.

(Courtesy BleckleyProgress.com contributor.) With everything being cancelled due to COVID-19, Bleckley 4-H knew something needed to be done to provide youth with a fun, safe fall event. Leaders put their heads together and came up with a Fall Frenzy held October 24 held at the Bleckley County cross country course.
Youth could sign up for any of the seven contests offered: Scarecrow, Pumpkin Decorating, Cupcake Decorating, Pie Eating, Variety Show, Decorated Agriculture, and Mini-Booth. There were 138 entries, and the event was a huge success. Once again, Bleckley County youth proved their creativity with the awesome entries.

The 4-H Fall Frenzy could not have been possible without wonderful sponsors in our community. Bleckley 4-H would like to give a big thank you to the following sponsors: Bembry Veterinary Clinic, Berryhill Lawncare, Bleckley Sherriff’s Department, Bob and Cheryl Little, Bonnie and Randy Raffield, Cochran Eye Center, Chris and Carla Coley, Connie Dupree, David Hall, Davis Propane, Don and Ramona Giles, Dykes Pharmacy, Eric and Staci Bisher, Four County Bank, Great Oaks Bank, Jackie Wilson, JC White Horseshoeing and Trim, Julia Lucas, Kace Kirkpatrick, Kari Coody, Kathy Baldwin, Kim Wright, Kris and Angie Coody, Lindsey Dykes - State Farm Agent, Paige Baggs - Tax Commissioner, Possum Pottery, Real Turf Solutions, Terry and Catherine Belflower.
