Middle School Sports
Barons win regular season home finale.

BCMS celebrated eighth grade recognition Thursday afternoon by edging Dublin 14-8 to move to 4-0 on the season. The Barons play at Dodge County September 24. Kickoff is 5 pm.

One last runthrough before competition season.


The BCHS Competition Cheerleaders held an open practice Thursday afternoon as they prepare for competition season. The cheer/wrestling gym was filled with family and friends who came to watch a performance of the competition routine. They also saw the squad go over things from the routine afterwards, with the crowd applauding when things would stick. Bleckley opens the season Saturday at the Middle Georgia Cheer Classic hosted by Houston County High School. The session begins at 1 pm with BC going on at 1:30.

Bleckley County Fire Department members conduct class at At Home Senior Living.

Members of the Bleckley County Fire Department recently conducted a CPR, AED, and First Aid training session for some of the staff at At Home Senior Living this week. The class was conducted by Michael Francis and Hannah McCrainie, both certified instructors.

BCMS used a nine-run bottom of the second to blow open a 5-5 game as they beat East Laurens 17-5 to close out the home season Wednesday afternoon. Jeriyah Evans hit a two-run homer and went 2 for 4. Augusta Finch was 3 for 3 with a double, triple, and 3 RBI. Sarah Vaughn was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI. Kate Williams went 2 for 3 a double and 1 RBI. Makayla Hogan and Emily Ferell each went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. The Lady Barons are the #3 seed for the MGMSAA playoffs. They travel to second seed Jeff Davis September 22.
