High School Sports
Fans no longer allowed on the field at BCHS football games.

Starting with this Friday’s home football opener versus East Laurens, fans will no longer be allowed on the field before, during, or after games. In a statement posted on the school Facebook page, BCHS said the change was due to “recent events’ and keeping with the GHSA Sportsmanship Resolution. The statement noted parents would still be allowed on the field for things such as Homecoming and Senior Night.

Mini, potential future Baron cheerleaders, performing.


The BCMS Competition Cheerleaders held their Mini Cheer Camp Saturday morning. Girls in Pre-K through fifth were taught things like jumps and a chant from BCMS cheerleaders and coaches. The camp ended with a performance to show what the campers learned. The Barons open their competition season September 6 at Morgan County.

The annual "Clash of the Classes" cross country races were held Saturday morning in Cochran. There are races by each grade (IE: 7th grade, 11th grade) with runners form that grade competing against each other (IE: 7th grade boys race.) The Runnin' Barons and Runnin' Royals had the top overall teams for both races. They also had three of the top four individuals. Jasper Faulk was top for middle school boys. Comeback attempt comes up short at Dodge County. ***Updated***

In a game that had a lengthy lightning delay, BCHS found themselves down 24-7 to Dodge County going to the third quarter. They tried to rally, getting within 24-22 in the third, and 31-29 late in the fourth. But the comeback would not succeed as the Royals fell 31-29. Brody Fleming was 25 of 53 for 287 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Octavius Tate caught eight passes for 118 yards and one score. Connor Cairney caught 10 passes for 80 yards. They open the home season August 29 versus East Laurens at 7:30 pm.
