Notes from Board of Education called meeting.

The Bleckley County Board of Education held a brief called meeting to deal with mainly personnel matters Tuesday night. There were various approvals of resignation, transfers, and hiring of both teachers as well as paraprofessiionals. Two updates were made to the BCHS Athletic Staffing Plan. Jeremy Fish was added as a community softball coach and Molly Sims was added as a community tennis coach.

Royals easily sweep baseball series from Southwest.

Throwing out the ceremonial first pitch was former Royal (and current Air Force Senior Airman) Dylan Cowart. Cowart was a key part of the 2019 team that made a run to the GHSA state semifinals.

BCHS played their region series against Southwest Tuesday afternoon in Cochran. In game one, Josh Dillard threw five no-hit innings in first start of the season, striking out 11, in a 10-0 Royals victory. Walker Boatright went 3 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI. Braegan Cravey was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI. Game two saw BC blow open the game with a nine-run second as they rolled to a 15-1 win and season sweep. Boatright struck out 13 in five innings and was also 2 for 3 with an RBI. Clayton Beck went 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI. Cravey went 1 for 2 with a double and 1 RBI. Austin Yourn was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI. Bleckley travels to Wilcox County tomorrow. JV play at 4 pm with varsity to follow.

Soccer teams split with Fitzgerald.

Ellen Arnold \had a goal and an assist as the Lady Royals defeated Fitzgerald 2-0. McKenzie Perkins also scored and Anna Lynch had an assist. The Royals lost 9-2. BCHS hosts Jefferson County March 6 at 5 pm.

Big inning powers Barons past Byron Middle School.

BCMS used an 18-run first inning to overwhelm Byron Middle School en route to a 20-2 victory Tuesday afternoon. Kix Foskey was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI. Caleb Hill and Jax Pipkin each went 2 for 2 with 3 RBI. Eli Parks was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI. Brayden Foskey went 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI. Bleckley plays at Byron tomorrow, game time is 5 pm.
