Community News : Saying Thank You
School supply drive organizers thank many people who helped make it possible.

With families again having to provide school supplies due to CARES act funding being gone, numerous people and groups have stepped up to try to help. One of the biggest collaborations in giving out school supplies took place Saturday afternoon at the Summit owned by First Baptist Church. They along with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Ruth, Salem Baptist, First Methodist, Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church, as well as Mt. Zion Baptist Church and New Richland Baptist in Twiggs County all donated supplies that were free to pick up for families. Volunteers were on hand to help with selection and make sure the kids got what they needed. There were also monetary donations from Peacocks Meats, Bleckley County Shriners, Cochran Masonic Lodge #217, the Bleckley County 10u All Star baseball team, as well as the Order of the Eastern Star in Dublin. Organizers thank all the volunteers who helped, all the churches who donated supplies, and all those who made monetary donations to the drive.

Royal Kingsmen offer sneak peak of football performance. ***Updated.***

The Royal Kingsmen Band offered parents and supporters a peak as to what’s to come for the upcoming football season Friday night. They performed stadium songs such as “Land of a Thousand Dances,” and “Low Rider.” They also performed two songs from this year’s halftime show entitled “Royals through the Decades,” Bohemian Rhapsody and Thriller. Band leadership was introduced, those who stood out during band camp were recognized as well as first-timers or “rookies.”
Band members, color guard and dazzlers are selling World's Finest Chocolate Bars for $1 each. Proceeds will go toward expenses this year.

The Lady Royals have had a busy summer with practice and scrimmage games to prepare for the upcoming season. BC is looking to rebound after a tough finish to last year that saw them fall in round one of state. Friday, they had their final scrimmage games against Brantley County at Middle Georgia State University. The scrimmage games allow coaches to evaluate players and what position they fit best at.
