Local students receive graduation pins.

(Photos courtesy news release.) Two local students recently received their pins symbolizing their completion of programs at Oconee Fall Line Technical College. Kendall Kitchens received her Diagnostic Medical Sonography pin during a ceremony held December 2 on the Dublin campus. Kitchens was among 11 students receiving their pins for both Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Respiratory Care. The pinning ceremony marked the end of the students' two-year journey toward becoming registered diagnostic medical sonographers and respiratory therapists.
Also on December 2, Marissa Arnold received her pin for completion of the Practical Nursing program at OFTC. The pin symbolizes completion of the educational requirements needed to sit for the state board licensure examination and to welcome them into the family of nurses. Arnold was among six students receiving their pins. The pinning ceremony takes place each December and it dates back to the Crusades when members of the Knight Hospitallers were honored with Maltese crosses after caring for wounded soldiers.
