BCMS bands hold spring concert.



The BCMS bands held their spring concert Tuesday night in the middle school gym. There were performances by the sixth grade band as well as the combined seventh and eighth grade band. The seventh and eighth grade band performed at the St. Patrick’s Festival in Dublin and the Wild Adventures Classic in Valdosta, receiving a “Good” rating at both events. Several band members were recognized for their participation at an event which highlighted solo and ensemble performances. Students recognized were Weston Crowe, Olivia Owen, Alexis Berry and Caleb Sodowsky, Aubree Freeman, Haylee Gillis and Bryna Mullis, Georgia Pittman and Lexi Stokes, Alissa Wilson, Zada Davis, Ja'Myiah Bowen, Alissa Wilson, Sophie Lucas, and Dakota Fountain. The BCHS Wind Ensemble will have their spring concert May 16 at 6:30 pm in the high school auditorium.

Goalie of the Year part of all region selections for BCHS Girls Soccer.

Lady Royals soccer announced their all-region selections voted on by coaches at the end of season meeting. Nyra Waters was named Galie of the Year despite missing time in net due to a shoulder injury. Cary’s Copeman, McKenzie Perkins, Jana Tomlin, and Chesney White were all first team selections. Ellen Arnold, Kyla Davis, Claira Lynch, and Emmy Kay Williams made second team. Elyce Potts and Kylie Reid were both honorable mentions.

BCMS to hold Title 1 Parent Meeting, sixth grade orientation.

Bleckley County Middle School will hold a Title 1 Parent Meeting May 16 at 5:30 pm in the lunchroom. It will be followed by sixth grade orientation at 6 pm.

Golf teams headed to state.

The BCHS boys and girls golf teams are headed to state after each one their second straight region title recently. Lowest scorers are Tabby Little (Girls) with an average score of 9 on 44 and Jake Brady with an average score of 9 on 43. Boys state will be May 20 at Georgia Southern Golf Course in Statesboro while girls state will be May 21 at Willow Lakes Golf Club in Metter.

Attending the ceremony with Stoy were Pilot members were Lisa Chastain, Julia Lucas, Melinda Bryant, Nan Anderson, Neta Oberry, Alice Mullis, Teresa Bryant, Quincy Fletcher, and Cathie Davis.

Bleckley 4-Her's do well at state outdoor archery competition.

(Photo contributed.) The Bleckley 4-H Outdoor Archery Team were among 584 students from 42 counties to compete at state held at Rock Eagle this past weekend. The senior Compound Team of Shannon Berryhill, Kayleigh Cook, and Sarah Kuhrt (pictured L-R) finished fifth. Other top individuals were: Kennedy Brown - Top 15 Individual for Junior. Recurve. Shannon Berryhill - Top 25 Individual for Senior. Compound. Hayden Leverette - Top 25 Individual for Senior. Recurve.

The Quincy Fletcher- Country Financial team of Jim Wimberly, BJ Long, Jason Little and Brian Maddox finished first. A combined team from Snow’s Asian Grill and Carson Waters finished second. The DGR’s Clubhouse team finished third.
