In the Dodge-Bleckley rivalry, the Royals have suffered both close and blowout losses. But Friday’s home loss might be one of the most painful given how a win would've secured a home playoff game.

Reid Harley delivers a hit.

On BC’s second possession, Nykeem Farrow broke through and dashed 46 yards to the end zone. The point after was good. Justin Rozier’s interception on Dodge’s next drive put the offense back on the field. It was fourth and six from the Dodge 36 when Zach Lassiter connected with Torenio Davis on a touchdown pass.

Though the snap on the point after was dropped, Bleckley led 13-0. Dodge returned the ensuing kickoff to the Royal 34. With 10:07 left in the second, a touchdown run had DC within 13-7. Bleckley though answered. Set up by a Farrow run to the Indian 15, Lassiter connected with Davis on another touchdown pass. Davis also caught the two-point conversion, making it 21-3 with 8:02 left.

Dodge’s next drive stopped at the Royal 18. They got a 35-yard field goal to get within 21-10. With under a minute left in the half, Alan Rogers recovered a fumble on the Indian 29. An apparent screen pass to Farrow for a touchdown was wiped out with a block in the back penalty. Bleckley though led 21-10 at halftime.

DC started their second possession of the third quarter on Bleckley’s 35 following a blocked punt. It was capped by a touchdown pass with 4:25 remaining. The two-point conversion failed. The Indians though got the ball back following an interception at their 45. RJ Carr went 57 yards with 5:37 left, giving the Indians a 23-21 lead.

Hillary Cranford (second from right) was recognized as Teacher of the Week. Last week's Teacher of the Week was Emmie Meadows (not pictured.)

A second interception in the fourth quarter put DC on the Royal 29. With 5:34 left, the Indians scored pushing their lead to 30-21. BC though would try to rally. A drive that included two fourth down conversions was capped by a two-yard Farrow run with two minutes left. The point after failed but Bleckley was within 30-27.

Dodge recovered the onside kick but appeared to be stopped on their 45. But on fourth and four with 45 seconds left, the Royals were flagged for 12 men on the field.

Touchdown Club President Britt Stewart presented a game ball to Church Harwell and Matt Fordham of the Citizens Bank of Cochran for being this week's game sponsor.

As the Indians went into victory formation, pushing and shoving ensued. It degenerated into an incident that required teams to be separated. The final 12 seconds elapsed, and BC lost 30-27.

Ocmulgee EMC representative Phil Bearden presented the GHSA Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award to Superintendent Steve Smith. Also pictured are L-R: BCHS Assistant Principals Matt Godwin, Laura Rowland, Director of Operations Trey Belflower, and BCHS Principal Matthew Gibbs. "It's a community award," said Smith.

While player ejections are unknown, the GHSA can review video to determine suspensions based upon who was involved in the fight and if players left the bench. Any player from Bleckley suspended would miss their final regular season game November 3 at Southwest Macon.

Lassiter completed 22 of 37 passes for 237 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions. Bryce Bailey caught nine passes for 76 yards. Davis caught six passes for 71 yards and two scores. Farrow had 132 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns. Mika Floyd caught four passes for 43 yards.

Keyshon Beck had the reception when Bleckley was fourth and five from their own 32.

Rozier led the defense with 8.5 total tackles, six solo. Reid Harley and Ty Williams each had six total tackles, five solo. Andrew Butler had six tackles, three solo. Tytrez Rozier had five tackles, all solo.

Despite the loss, BC still has a chance to secure a home playoff game. They would need a win at Southwest and Dublin loss to Washington County. Kickoff for Southwest is 7:30 pm with the game being played at Brad Henderson Stadium.
