BCHS returns to the basketball court January 2 at West Laurens. Following that, the next seven games will be region contests, including first meetings with Dublin. Here’s where things stand with both teams and what could happen during the unofficial second half of the season.

Lady Royals- 8-3, 1-2 in 3-AA. Though fifth in the standings, the team could arguably be 2-1 in region, foul trouble stopped a comeback attempt at Dodge County. They’ll have a chance to gain ground next week with a game at East Laurens (2-1 in region) on January 5 and at home against Dodge County (1-1) the next night.

Another potentially tough game could be at Southwest January 9. The Lady Patriots lost to region-leading Washington County by just four points when the teams met in Sandersville.

Key upcoming games:
January 5 at East Laurens. January 6- home vs Dodge County. January 19 at Dublin. February 2- home versus Washington County.

Royals- 9-2, 2-1 in 3-AA. The boys are second in region play, their lone loss coming in a foul-filled, controversial game at Washington County. Southwest and Dodge County round out the top four. The Royals will have a chance to pull further ahead with games at home against the Indians on January 6 and at Southwest January 9. Dublin hasn’t begun region play but is the only team ranked in the top ten.

It should be an emotional night when the rematch between the Golden Hawks (2-1 in region) and Royals takes place as it’ll be Senior Night.

Key upcoming games:
January 6- home vs Dodge County. January 9 at Southwest. January 19 at Dublin. February 2- home versus Washington County.
