It was break from region play as BCHS hosted Veterans Tuesday night. Both teams sought to break three-game losing streaks. A big fourth quarter helped the girls while the boys couldn’t hold a fourth quarter lead.

Jahnaria Brown finishes the fast break.

Down three after one quarter, the Lady Royals rallied in the second to lead 31-27 at halftime. It was a five-point game going to the fourth when Aliyah Whitehead scored 11 of her team-high 19 points. BC led by as many as 16 en route to winning 57-46. Jahnaria Brown added 18 points.

Mykel Hobes battles a double team.

The lead changed numerous times in the first half between the Warhawks and Royals. Shontavian Manuel scored Bleckley’s final four points of the second, giving them a 26-23 halftime lead. Torenio Davis scored 13 in the third and Jalon Jenkins had a buzzer beater as BC led by eight going to the fourth.

Veterans though would re-take the lead on an 11-2 run. Tied at 50 in the final minute, Nykeem Farrow’s driving layup put the Royals up two with 37 seconds left. Veterans though got a three-point shot with 12 seconds remaining. A last-second three was short as BCHS lost their fourth in a row, 53-52.
