Before the varsity games, participants in the 2019 Mini Cheer Camp performed. They did both football and basketball chants, as well as a Hawaiian-themed dance.

Saturday night’s regular season home finale against Dodge County had no impact on next week’s region tournament. Brackets were set based upon results of Friday’s games. Still, it was Senior Night against a rival, plenty of motivation for both teams to win.

The Squaw’s 17-7 second quarter put BC into a 34-17 halftime hole. Still down 13 going to the fourth, the Lady Royals got within 10 with over five minutes left but were unable to draw any closer in losing 67-54. Jalexia Taylor scored a career high 18 points. Tesa Taylor had 11 points. Markayla Jenkins scored 10 points.

Jalexia Taylor had five straight points in the first quarter.

Dodge led by as many as 16 points in the first half and led 35-22 at the break. Despite going several minutes between scores in the third, the Royals cut the deficit to 49-41 by the fourth. That was when the Royals mounted their comeback.

Amarion Blackshear’s sixth three of the game with 1:46 left cut the deficit to two. Nykeem Farrow tied the score at 59 with 1:19 left. Knotted at 61 with 45 seconds left, Bleckley missed the front end of a one if one. Still tied with 14 seconds remaining, two more free throws missed appeared to give Dodge the opportunity for a game-winning shot.

However, the Indians missed the front end of a one if with 5.9 seconds left. BC got the rebound, Farrow raced down the court, laying in as time expired, lifting the Royals to victory 63-61. He had 27 points. Blackshear had 18 points. Shontavian Manuel scored 14 points.

Amarion Blackshear had two three's in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Royals will be seventh seed in the 3-AA playoffs. They take on sixth seed East Laurens at East Laurens February 4 at 6 pm.

Fans watch anxiously as Nykeem Farrow goes up for what would prove to be the game-winning shot as time expired.

The Royals are fourth seed and face fifth seed Southwest at Dublin February 5 at 5:30 pm. Northeast boys are top seed. Semifinals and finals will be held at Central Georgia Technical College’s gymnasium, 1780 Anthony Road in Macon.
