BCHS win region literary title.

Bleckley County High School won the region 3-AA literary championship Saturday. Competition was held at BCHS.


Seven events qualified for state. Oral Interpretation, Humorous- Jace Maddox. Oral Interpretation, Duo- Carrie Gilbert and Noah Shedd. Essay- Rhetorical, McKinley Cranford. Essay- Argumentative, Hugh Cairney. Essay- Personal, Hugh Cairney. Shedd was first in boys solo. Boys Quartet- Demetrion Wells, Shedd, Brandon Wrye, Jashon Gardner.

Though not qualifying for state, these events also placed. BCHS won region by four points over Washington County. Dawson Greer was second in Oral Interpretation, Dramatic. Chloe Mullis was third in girls solo. Mullis, Gilbert, and Greer were second in girls trio. Allyson Burke was third in Extemporaneous Speaking, Domestic. Jetta Hattaway was second in Extemporaneous Speaking, International.

The state literary championship will be March 16. Events begin at 8:30 am with competition being held at Veterans High School.
