The First “Aim For Hope” sporting clay tournament on June 22 to benefit Promise of Hope proved to be an event worth repeating as 57 shooters participated on the shooting course. A big thanks to Todd Kirkpatrick who played a huge role in the success of our tournament, and the Robinsons for allowing the event on their land

The event featured 100 targets for shooting clay within 12 stations. As 39 Adults competed for the “Big Shot” award for HOA (Highest Over All score) and 18 kids (high school and under) competed for the “Little Big Shot” award for HOA, competition for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were close.

With a high score of 92 out of 100, Kyle Millwood won the “Big Shot” award for the adult division. Close behind for first place was Jeff Holland with a score of 90. Robbie Purser won second place with a score of 89. Alex Clark also scored an 89 and with a determination on station 5, he placed third.

Bo Grimes represented the kids division in a big way by scoring a 91 to win the “Little Big Shot” award. Behind him was Judd Bellflower in first place with a score of 82. Jake Lassiter scored an 81 to place second and Jon Eric Watson placed third with a score of 76.

Sponsors play a huge role in the success of our tournament with over 50 corporate and station sponsors, many of which support the Promise of Hope ministry throughout the year.

Also, big thanks to Jody Kirkpatrick for helping set up for the event as well as during the event and to Leigh Dillard for bringing the machines all the way from Canton, GA. Thanks to Mathis Funeral Home, Scott’s BBQ, Southern Heritage in Dublin, and B&W’s BBQ as well. Mrs. Lunelle Watson represented Lucille Watson's Sunday School class from First Baptist and provided sweets for the event and several volunteers came out to help with the event. Also, thanks to First Baptist in Cochran for ice and for the support with advertising.

It was a fun event that helped raise money for the men at Promise of Hope and we plan to make this an annual tournament.

Promise of Hope serves as an extensive inpatient program for substance abuse. The holistic approach is taught by utilizing the Bible and 12 Step programs. "We are so blessed to serve in a community like Bleckley/Cochran. The support shown from the people has been such an encouragement and blessing to all our staff and residents", states Denise Dobbins, Founder/CEO.
