The basketball squad cheerleaders debuted their new uniforms Friday night. They're pictured with coach Chelsea Tyner.

Both the Lady Royals and Royals sought to get off the proverbial snide Friday night against Hawkinsville. Both teams had good defensive quarters as BCHS swept their longtime rival.

Jalexia Taylor had nine points in a 16-5 second quarter helping the Lady Royals to a 38-22 halftime lead. Taylor scored in the final 15 seconds of the third quarter as the lead grew to 20. Bleckley went on to win 67-37. Taylor had 20 points. Markayla Jenkins added 12 points.

Markayla Jenkins got this shot to go.

Though the Royals scored just seven points in the second quarter, they held the Red Devils to two points in taking a 25-15 halftime lead. Up 15 going to the fourth, Hawkinsville got within 12 twice. BC though went on to win 55-43.

Middle Georgia State University was Friday's game sponsor. Accepting the award is MGA Bookstore employee and former Lady Royal Aliyah Whitehead.

Shontavian Manuel scored seven of his team-leading 16 points in the first quarter. Terrance Rozier had 11 points. Amarion Blackshear and Ethan Hulsey added 10 points each.

The Warner Robins Alumnus Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was on hand to distribute information about the 2020 Census as well information on their chapter scholarship. Applications will be available starting in January and is open to seniors in Bleckley, Pulaski, and Houston counties. Visit www.warnerrobins-dst.org for more info.
