Boys win, girls fall in Bear Brawl openers.

BCHS began the final games before Christmas Friday afternoon at the Houston County Bear Brawl. Though at different locations, both teams faced Rutland in opening round action.

A three by Amarion Blackshear toward the end of the first half gave BC a 19-6 lead. The Royals led by as many as 18 in the second half in winning 43-27. Terrance Rozier had 10 points.

Markayla Jenkins battles defenders..


Over at Feagin Mill Middle School, the Lady Royals were outscored 17-6 in the second quarter and trailed by seven at halftime. Though BC cut the deficit to two early in the third, they were down 36-26 going to the fourth.

Alyssa Fortune hit this jumper.


The girls went on to lose 49-33. Markayla Jenkins had 11 points. Tomorrow, the girls play at 10 am, the boys take on Warner Robins for a championship game berth at 8:30 pm.
