It was an interesting season for the BCMS Competition Cheerleaders. They were young, putting ten sixth graders on the mat. Coach Liz Brown missed part of the year with the birth of her first child.

Despite these things, the Barons finished region runner up, narrowly missing another title. Athletes, coaches, and families gathered in the cafeteria Thursday night to celebrate the season.

In brief remarks before awards were presented, Brown praised the squad’s hard work, saying girls would use comments from judges as motivation to improve. Besides certificates, squad members also received pullovers as well as DVD’s containing all their competitions from this season.

All awards accept Coach’s Award and Assistant Coach’s Award were voted on by cheerleaders. Winners were as follows. Best Main Base: Chesney White. Best Side Base: Gabbie Wells. Best Backspot- Shanise Floyd.

The evening ended with eighth grade squad members presenting gifts to the coaches and closing thank you’s from Brown. Congratulations to all the award winners.
