Allie Itson, the eight-year-old daughter of Brian and Diana Itson has captured the hearts of many recently. She was diagnosed with moyamoya disease, a disorder that impacts the flow of blood to the brain and can create strokes in some with the condition in 2019. Allie underwent two surgeries in January.

A visit for lunch to the local Dairy Queen in Cochran a few weeks prior to her surgeries was the beginning for many to become fans of the charming little girl with the infectious smile. During the visit, an employee of the restaurant provided really good customer service.

So much so that Diana called the manager, Patrick Taylor to share the story. He relayed the story to owner Ali Momin. It was from that an instant friendship was born as well as plans for a special day for Allie at the Cochran restaurant.

That day was February 1. . Allie was the manager of Cochran Dairy Queen. She was trained on running the cash register, working drive-thru and how to create some of the soft serve treats that the restaurant chain is famous for.

The restaurant donated 20 percent of sales to Allie and her family to help with costs for her medical treatment. Ali and Patrick put together an eventful day with a bouncy obstacle course outside, face painting, balloon animals and there was a costumed unicorn, Allie's favorite creature, dancing around. Allie got her own manager's uniform too.

People came from all over and have reached out since to Allie and her family.

On February 8, a check was presented from the Cochran Dairy Queen via Taylor on behalf on behalf of Momin to Allie. They gave a little more than the 20 percent. In addition, a bucket of private donations was given to the family.

Allie was also presented with an extra bonus for being the 'friendliest' Cochran Dairy Queen employee that day. as voted on by the customers in their 'fan feedback.'

It was truly a good day for Allie, her family and all who were around her. Thanks to some good customer service and a soft serve treat at the local Dairy Queen.
