Destiny Mathis beat the buzzer on this three.

Basketball games are rarely postponed due to weather, but the severity of last Thursday’s storms led to the regular season for BCMS at Dublin to be moved to Monday afternoon. While both teams appeared to suffer some rust due to the layoff, each found a way to win.

Kristeria Stanley fights for a rebound.

The Lady Barons led 17-12 at halftime. Destiny Mathis hit a three at the buzzer, just the second made basket of the third, pushing the lead to eight. Ter’Nazia Elvine had a four-point play in the fourth in a 30-18 BCMS win.

This shot fell for Omari Jackson despite the defense.

It was 20-15 Barons at halftime but tied at 27 after three quarters. The Irish took a four-point lead with under three minutes left. Joshua Stanley had the game-tying basket in a 9-0 run over the final two plus minutes as BC rallied to win 39-34.

Markeze Brown shoots over defenders.

MGMSAA region begins February 13 at J.R. Trippe Middle School with the top four teams advancing. The Lady Barons play Wednesday versus the host Lady Chiefs at 5:30 pm. The Barons take on Dodge County Thursday at 4 pm. Championship games will be February 15 starting at 10 am.
