Hundreds of students were at both Bleckley Primary and Bleckley Elementary Thursday afternoon and evening. They worked on things like shapes, sight words, and how to pronounce "wacky words."
But the students didn't feel like they were in class. If you were to ask most of them, they'd probably tell you they had fun.
That's because both schools held literacy night events full of activities that were educational but fun built around different themes. Bleckley Primary held their annual Dr. Seuss birthday celebration with a math and literacy night.
Some of the many activities included graphing, skip counting, and secret stories. There was also a chance to shop at the Book Fair and exchange books at the Book Swap.

Bleckley Elementary challenged students to put on their thinking caps to "solve mysteries." One of them was to wto figure out which leprechaun made a mess in the fifth grade hall.

Students played different word games to get clues. They would then turn in their guess for a chance to win a prize tomorrow morning.

Dr. Seuss might say, When learning is uniquely done, learning can be so much fun.

| Another MGA student assisting Thursday was Kristen Warlick. Both she and Sapp provided information about the importance of reading to parents. They also gave out resources to help assist parents in advancing their children's reading abilities when at home. |
