BCHS played its third game in four days and their first home game of 2020, hosting Mary Persons Thursday night. While the Royals hung tough with their 4A opponents, pitching depth with a scheduled region game against Dodge would play a factor.

Steven Knighton’s third inning single tied the score at one. BC took their only lead of the game on a Carson Waters single in the fourth. The Bulldogs pulled ahead in the sixth with three, including a two-run home run.

Conner Senters scores in the fourth inning.

Still down two in the bottom of the seventh, Carson Waters led off with a single. Jack Fernandez singled with one out. A Knighton sac fly and two-out single by J.R. Fordham tied the score at 4. BC escaped a two on, no out jam in the eighth.

But in the ninth, the Royals gave up 12 runs in losing 16-4. Fordham finished 2 for 3 with a double. Matthew Bland was 2 for 4. Waters went 2 for 5 with 1 RBI. Jack Fernandez went 2 for 5.

Pinch runner Dawson Chapman scored the game-tying run in the seventh.

Friday's JV/varsity doubleheader with Dodge County has been postponed due to Dodge cancelling all athletics for the next two weeks.
