When Jake Fromm was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the NFL Draft Saturday afternoon, there were cheers going out from across Bulldog Nation. One of those people cheering had a special reason to do so.

Von Lassiter, the current Royals head football coach, was Fromm’s coach while he was a standout at Houston County High School. The two families have been friends for years. In a text message, Lassiter spoke of how proud he was of his former player achieving his dream.

“My family and I are very excited to see Jake be able to live out his dreams and play in the NFL. God has blessed Jake with a platform that is extremely important to so many people and I look forward to seeing Jake use that platform to fulfill his ministry. I am extremely blessed to be Jake's coach and friend. I could not be more proud of him and am excited for his family.”

While Lassiter has spoken often about wanting to make players under him become better men, he of course would love to see one of his current players have their name called as Fromm’s was. “My prayer is that my players always get to live out their dreams!

In this case, Lassiter’s prayer was answered.
