COVID-19 has caused many unprecedented things to take place. One of them is teachers who are used to having classrooms full of students having to try and educate children online. With this week being Teacher Appreciation Week, Superintendent Dr. Steve Smith took a moment to recognize local teachers who’ve faced the challenge.

In a system-wide email sent out Tuesday morning, Smith said “This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and I think everyone has deemed 2020 as Teacher Appreciation Year! I hope you feel appreciated every day, not just during special occasions.

This has been an unusual year, but one benefit from the pandemic has been a renewed appreciation for you as teachers and the profession as a whole. Let's hope people have long memories as school starts back in August.”
