High school sports will be returning in June. Sort of. The GHSA Board of Trustees passed a measure today allowing schools to resume conditioning June 8.

There will be numerous restrictions in place. They include restricting the number of coaches and players practicing to 20 people at one time. No balls or specific sports equipment allowed. No use of locker rooms or showers.

Athletes should bring their own water bottles. No visitors at conditioning, maintaining social distancing, and allowing 15 minutes between groups for cleaning and disinfecting.

The guidelines were developed by the GHSA Sports Medicine Council. A memo to schools on the GHSA website states restrictions could be relaxed if COVID-19 data continues to improve following input from health care professionals and guidance from Governor Kemp.
