Clara Rickerson throws from third base.

The Lady Royals knew Thursday’s game against Lamar County was big in terms of playoff standings. Thanks though to some help from Monticello, the win would break a long region title drought.

Reagan Wimberly fields a ball hit to second.

Trinity Glover’s three-run home run in the third broke a 1-1 tie. Lamar answered with four in the fourth. Three runs on two outs in the home half put Bleckley back on top.

Rebecca Bowling sets to throw to third.

BC escaped a bases loaded jam in the fifth. The leadoff batter drew a walk in the seventh but was left stranded as the Lady Royals won 7-5. Earlier, Monticello (aka Jasper County) defeated Dodge County 4-1. With just one region left, and a two-game lead, it secured a region title for BCHS, the first since 2014.

Riley Haley fields a bunt.

Glover was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI. Addisyn Keel went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Clara Rickerson was 2 for 3. Darci Dillard went 1 for 2. Bleckley hosts Dodge County October 14 in a JV/varsity doubleheader starting at 4 pm.
