In 2012, Second seeded BCHS hosted their first playoff game against Early County. The Bobcats upset the Royals to end their season. For while Friday night, it looked as if it were about to happen again before a second half rally.

Midstate Pool and Spa was Friday night's game sponsor. Receiving the game ball from Joe Ward was Barrett Fleming.

EC got the ball at the Bleckley 35 to start. They got a nine-yard touchdown run with 8:56 left to go up 7-0. BC was stopped on their next drive at the Bobcat 25.

Early got the opening kickoff in the third. Set up by a deep pass to the Royal six, a five-yard touchdown run with 9:24 left increased the lead. The point after missed. BC would finally get on the board with 2:52 left on a Jahvon Butler one-yard run.

Several Royals are in on the tackle.

A two-point conversion attempt failed. The Royals appeared to have a drive going in the fourth after converting a fourth down on their own 41. However, it stalled at the Bobcat 43.

Bleckley’s defense would again rise to the occasion, stopping the Bobcats on the Royal 32. A big completion to Newsome on the ensuing possession set up Butler’s 10-yard touchdown run with 3:33 left as the deficit was cut to 16-13.

Early recovered the onside kick but was held to a three and out. The Royals got the ball back on their own 40 with 58 seconds left. On the next play, Mullis connected with Newsome on a 60-yard catch and run to put Bleckley ahead 20-16.

The Bobcats got the ball back with 41 seconds left but couldn’t move the ball as Bleckley held on 20-16. Mulls went 7 of 13 for 153 yards and one score. Newsome caught three passes for 104 yards. Butler ran for 116 yards on 23 carries.

Defensively, J’Shun Height had seven total tackles, six solo. Nehemiah Mack had 6.5 tackles, six solo. Christian Newbern had 5.5 tackles, five solo. Bleckley will host Callaway in round two of the playoffs November 19 at 7:30 pm.
