People planning to go bald in support of local girl battling cancer.

Caroline Eckles is a second grader at Bleckley Primary. Last November, she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. A large tumor was found in her right kidney, stretching across to her abdomen as well as chest lymph nodes. Going through chemotherapy has caused her to undergo changes.

Sheriff’s Deputy Tracy Holder is school resource officer at BCPS. In an effort to show solidarity with Eckles as well as raise funds for the family, she’s organized “Bald, Bold, and Beautiful for Caroline Eckles.” The event will take place at the First Baptist Church Summit, 130 Beech Street, from 2 to 4 pm on February 13.

Holder will be part of a group of 14 people that includes first responders, military vets, family friends, as well as Bleckley Primary Principal Dr. Quent Floyd who will have their heads shaved. The participants have collected donations, all of which will go to the family to aid with expenses.

Several people have volunteered to help, including hairdressers and photographers. There will be light refreshments served. The public is welcomed to attend but are asked to wear masks due to the possibility of Caroline and her family being there.

Donations of snacks (single bags of sealed cookies, chips, fruit snacks) as well as canned drinks and juice boxes for the event can be left in the front office of Bleckley Primary from 9 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday. Those wishing to donate financially to the family can also do it there as there’s a donation box at the school.

Donation boxes are also located at the following local businesses- Vapeopolis, Scotts BBQ, The Consignment Shop, Snow's Asian Grill, Glory Bee Boutique, Dykes Pharmacy, Lindsey Dykes State Farm, Needle n/a Haystack, Daylight Donuts, 911 Center ( c/o Leslie Queen), Haven Grace Company, BC's Polish Therapy, and The Rak Boutique,
