The Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department board met in a regular session Monday afternoon. Finances dominated much of the conversation.

There was discussion over a bill not being debited. News that the grant received couldn’t be used for playground equipment but had to be used to pay for parking lot lighting because that’s what the grant was for. A check for $3,950 didn’t have an image with it.

Terry Ware said the check was to pay for tournaments the rec. was hosting. Maintenance Supervisor Allen Yawn said he could use the department’s account number to log in to the Georgia Power website to set up auto drafting of the bill as well as the parking lot lights.

Chan Jones went over how much money the rec. would have for the rest of the year. It was his opinion they wouldn’t have money to hire and pay a rec. director. There was consideration on providing a truck as an incentive for a new director. But finances dictated the board holding off on that decision.

There was also discussion about the upcoming Dixie Youth 11u and 12u state baseball tournament that would be held in Cochran July 13-15. Food and drinks would be ordered this week. There was discussion of buying a new freezer. Yawn said he had one he could donate once he cleaned it out.

The board then went into Executive Session.
