The monthly meeting of the Bleckley County Board of Education was held Tuesday night. Four members were present.
It was a relatively short meeting. There were no contracts or grants to approve. No special recognition, no public comments under policy BCBI. The only thing voted on was the comprehensive policy review for this month. It involved section J, students.
The specific policy was JGCD, medication. It was an update so that the district would be in compliance with recent state legislation passed. The update was passed unanimously. Click the link to see more.

Dr. Trey Belflower had two updates. His facilities report involved the old tennis courts on Peter Street. Belfower noted how the Bleckley Pickleball Association had come to them for permission before using the courts. The only thing the district is doing is providing usage of the courts.
He said through private donations, the BPA had been doing updates to the courts and would be installing lighting. The lighting will be on timers and not come on past 10 pm.
He said BCHS head tennis coach Brad Sanders had said he didn't foresee a case of them needing it with the new middle school courts. He did say the group was aware that a discussion would have to take place if the district were to need them one day.
The other update involved the primary school. Belflower said new flooring had been ordered and would be installed during the fall breaks. New furniture to replace water-damaged furniture (from the flooding this summer) had been ordered.
According to meeting minutes, the meeting adjourned at 7:10 pm.
