It was another matchup against a GISA school Monday afternoon as BCHS hosted Stratford. In what was a pitching and defensive duel, the Lady Royals edged the Eagleetes.

Kenna Bowman receives the ball at first base.

Both team’s defenses got out potential scoring jams. Stratford got out of a two on, one out situation in the seventh. BC escaped a runners at second and third, one out in the seventh, as well as having the ghost runner (the last batted out started at second in the eighth) at third with one out in the eighth.

Marley Jarrell tags out a runner before she gets to second base.

In the bottom of the eighth, with runners at first and third with one out, Stratford deliberately walked the bases loaded. Riley Haley was at the plate with two outs when a passed ball scored pinch runner Jana Tomlin from third base to give the Lady Royals a 1-0 walkoff win.

BC had just three hits, Addison Hill was 1 for 2. Region play resumes tomorrow at home versus Jefferson County at 5:30 pm.
